The 14060 represents a pivotal transition in Rolex history. Early 14060 models utilized Tritium for luminescence, while later versions from 1998 onwards adopted Luminova & Superluminova marking this reference as a significant evolution. Notably, it is the last Submariner to sport the classic 39mm Oyster case.
This U5-serial example from late 1998 showcases a rare transitional 'Tritinova' Luminova dial. These unique dials were produced for less than a year, blending Luminova with previously marked "SWISS - T < 25" dials meant for Tritium.
This particular watch is part of a limited batch featuring the "T25" stamp but with Luminova markers, hands, and Tritium bezel pip. With a surprisingly light cream patina formed on the dial, it’s a remarkable piece from a brief period during Rolex’s transition from Tritium to Luminova.
